Yusuf ibn Tashfin, born around 1009 in the Moroccan region of the Sahara, emerged from a Berber tribe and transformed the political landscape of North Africa and the Iberian Peninsula. In 1061, he founded the Almoravid dynasty, unifying various tribes and leading a formidable military campaign that established his rule over large territories, including parts of present-day Morocco and Spain. His most notable achievement was the conquest of the city of Toledo in 1085, which solidified Almoravid power and influence in the region.
